Chen Xin

Chen Xin, born in Beijing and of Manchu ethnicity (Zhenghuang Banner), graduated with a Master of Arts from the Academy of Fine Arts Munich, Germany, in 2006. She is a professional artist currently living and working between Beijing and Munich.

Since dedicating herself to art in 1999, Chen Xin initially focused on exploring the spiritual and desire-driven states of modern individuals, often expressed through abstract forms. As an artist with both German academic training and deep immersion in Chinese culture, she has in recent years sought to bridge East and West. Drawing inspiration from traditional Chinese aesthetics—such as Shanshui (landscape) and the fan—she abstracts elements like “empty mountains” and “spiritual气格” to reinterpret, reconstruct, and transform classical concepts in a contemporary context.

Chen Xin’s works have been widely exhibited both in China and internationally. Her distinctive artistic style and strong conceptual stance have earned significant recognition. In 2015, she received the Palm Art Award in Germany. She has been invited twice by Red Bull Group to participate in cross-disciplinary art projects, with her installations acquired into collections. She has also collaborated with top-tier brands including Beijing Benz (BBAC) and ASICS (Japan), with her paintings collected in private collections.

In December 2016 and March 2019, she collaborated with luxury watch brands Carl F. Bucherer and Jaquet Droz, respectively, appearing on the cover of the luxury magazine Robb Report. In November 2017, she was invited by the German-Chinese Cultural Exchange Foundation (GeKA) to exhibit in Berlin, where her works were acquired into collections. In October 2019, she was invited to serve as the main visual artist for Shanghai Fashion Week 2020AW. In November 2024, Montblanc commissioned her to create the monumental landscape work Future Landscape · Nine Heavens Journey. She was awarded the 2022 “Art Personality of the Year” by Fashion Home magazine.
