YUAN HUINAN

Yuan Huinan (b. 2001) was born in Baotou, Inner Mongolia, and will graduate in 2025 from Jilin Jianzhu University with a degree in Visual Communication Design. He currently lives and works in Baotou.

His painting practice revolves around themes of “life and soul, silence and eternity,” using plants and still life as vehicles for self-projection. Through a symbolic visual language, he constructs surreal scenes where time appears to stand still. The atmospheres of his works are mysterious and tranquil, with a subtle sense of solemnity, expressing the artist’s genuine emotional responses to life experiences and ultimate existential questions. With delicate brushwork, Yuan captures moments where freedom and constraint intersect, making painting a way to perceive the weight of inner experience.

Recent solo exhibitions include Falling Stars (Bonian Art Space, Beijing, 2024). He has also participated in group exhibitions at institutions such as Lin Qingxuan Art Center and CoBrA Gallery, as well as art fairs including Art Central and ART021. He was shortlisted for the 2024 AUDI|Guangxia Trailblazer Award.
