Zhang Yixiong, born in Beijing in 1987, holds a master’s degree from the Russian Academy of Arts. He currently lives and works in Beijing.
Zhang Yixiong has long sought to infuse a literary quality into his works—not merely a stylistic expression or the function of decorative imagery. He hopes that viewers will experience his paintings the way they might read a poem or a miniature novel: immersing themselves in the atmosphere, following the details to unfold the narrative, and in that process, connecting the story with a familiar, special moment or memory from their own minds.
