Feng Yan (b. 1963), born in Xi’an, Shaanxi, is a Chinese contemporary photographer and writer. He graduated from the Department of Cinematography at the Beijing Film Academy in 1989. In his early career, he participated in the filming of works such as the movie *Ju Dou*, and later lived in New York City for many years. Feng Yan has made a name for himself in the field of contemporary Chinese art with his conceptual photographic works. His photography is characterized by distinct minimalist and objectivist traits; he excels at reexamining and reconstructing everyday objects, natural landscapes, and historical sites through a calm and restrained visual language.
