Yang Di

Yang Di graduated from the Kunstakademie Düsseldorf in 2020, where he was awarded both the Graduate Prize and the Meisterschüler (Master Student) honor in the same year. His artistic practice primarily takes the form of video and installation.

Drawing on narrative sources such as popular culture, literature, and film, Yang explores the impact of power on individuals, as well as speculative visions of future crises. His work is closely tied to the psychological conditions shaped by technological development. He considers contemporary “experience” to be increasingly invalidated, and seeks to investigate how human identity might be redefined within a constantly shifting social landscape.

His works have been exhibited in numerous museums and institutions, including K21, Kunstsammlung Nordrhein-Westfalen, Düsseldorf; Kunsthalle Düsseldorf; MAXXI – National Museum of 21st Century Arts, Rome; the Huayu Youth Award Exhibition; 798CUBE, Beijing; Xihai Art Museum, Qingdao; Shanghai Duolun Museum of Modern Art; and Chengdu Contemporary Image Museum.

In addition to his artistic practice, Yang also works as a curator. In 2024, he curated The Journey of Absent Bodies, a Sino-German photography exhibition at the Shanghai Duolun Museum of Modern Art.
